CLIENT: Colorful Abstract Piece for Mid-Century Living Room
Helping a client find a statement piece for their mid-century living room.
Here in the mini art consulting subscription portion of FFTE I’ll be answering some of your (paid subscriber) questions/art dilemmas, and I will show you some examples from my clients.
One thing I feel that I have a knack for, is helping people find their own art style. I help my clients find work that I think is amazing for them. I love finding work that other people love that I also think is good work regardless of if it’s my personal style or not. Some people might hire me for my personal style, which is great, but I also love helping people who have a different style than I do! I truly enjoy helping people find and acquire art they love.
After taking my Art Quiz (I make a custom art quiz for every consulting client) and speaking with my clients, I could tell their vibe was lot of blues and greens, abstract, geometric, and nature-related. The pieces didn’t have to be all of those things, and they were open to anything, but those were some themes that arose from their quiz. From the quiz I could tell they weren’t into the messy brushstroke vibe, so I had a good idea of what direction to go for them.
Also because these clients live near me (which is not usually the case), I went to their home to see the space in person, and measure all the spaces they were wanting art for.
I presented them with over 80 options (!!!) for pieces in several areas of their home. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that many artists, especially emerging artists, are willing to work with you on commissions to meet your needs as far as sizes and colors go.
Here was the info for the areas in their home I was looking for artwork for:
main artwork in living area
light blue walls
mid-century vibe home
abstract, geometric, or nature
not brushy or messy
leaning toward blues and greens but open to lots of colors
In this post I’m focusing on some of the abstract pieces I presented them for this space. I will do another post on some of the nature-related pieces, and they were also looking for a piece for their entryway, which is close to this living room, so I’ll share more from the presentation in another post about that as well.
Of the 80 pieces I presented to this client, some of their favorites for this space were:
